U Make Me :), Will U B Mine?

I heart Valentine’s Day. In my opinion it’s a great kids’ holiday. Yes, I said “a kids’ holiday.”  Think back on those grade school days. Think of the anticipation, the planning, the scissors, glue and construction paper.   Was it not awesome?

Now think, when did Valentine’s change? Where did the expectations come from? The pressure? I could do with out that and easily make a paper bag puppy out of pink and red hearts or a decorative box with glitter and tin foil all in preparation to  collect cheap and cheesy paper Valentine’s. I loved those.

I want my kids to feel that innocence forever.

(How I’m going to do that, I don’t know.)

In the mean time, if you are looking for a clever Valentine, these Robots were a hit last year.  Bee-dee-bee-dee, a hit!  Click here for directions and a template (I heart Family Fun Mag).   And have a happy weekend of LOVE!

PS – What are your plans for the weekend?

Ours?  In between some R&R, we’ll be making cookies and Valentines, as well as our annual Red and Pink Dinner.

PPS – Today is  2/011/2011.  Be sure to celebrate.

    011? Is that a day?

Love the robot valentines, and I completely agree that it’s a great kid holiday.

Plans for the weekend include watching a movie (or two) and making peanut brittle to give to my friends on Valentine’s day. (We got the kids’ valentines done last night, since C doesn’t have school Mondays and his party is today.)

Hope your weekend is lovely and relaxing.

When I was in kindergarten, I got a valentine from a boy I had a crush on. It was blue, with Snoopy on his doghouse and a rainbow in the sky. On the back it had *heart* Troy–written in a parent’s handwriting. I think I still had it when I went to Jr. High. I loved Valentine’s Day!

Cute robots. I hope your weekend is refreshing!

  3. Those are SUPER Cute.
Me and my hubby are going out on Sat, but we have fondue together on the big day. Very fun, very tiring.

Wendy- enjoy your movie(s). Does this include staying in your pjs most of the day? Because that’s what I’m envisioning and that’s what I want to do 🙂

HBA – I love that story. I love that you kept it so long. I’m sure I had similar tokens that I couldn’t let go.

Hilary, enjoy your night out. Fondue- that sounds great. My kids keep begging me to break out the fondue pot. But I agree, it gets messy.
