Salt

A Magpie Tale…

Salt

Sixteen minerals.
In you, I am linked to the earth.

Ancient.
From vanished volcanic ashes
and departed seas
you spring up in the earth like
a well.
Unliquid
Unsolid

I am composed of your savor.
I am ancient, too.

Yet,
one drop of water
disintegrates
all your smack.
Your architecture,
damaged,
dissolved,
flows with the laws of disorder.

Who protected you
on your journey through
soil and crusts?

Your character,
both weak and strong,
garnishes my table.
